Field notes

First seasons on the site

Early notes from St. Boswells: slope, shelter, soil, and the patient work of getting young vines established.

Templars Oak is still at the beginning. These first seasons are about learning where frost settles, which rows dry first after rain, how the soil holds heat, and how the young vines respond to the Borders weather.

The work is practical and seasonal: pruning, tying down, checking growth, keeping the rows clean, and watching how the site behaves in a cool year.

The wine is still ahead of us. The aim now is to grow healthy fruit with the acidity and structure needed for traditional-method sparkling wine.
